My Bloody Valentine
Two Minutes to Midnight
War's ring is one of the Four Horsemen's rings, specifically War's. It is War's power source (without which he is greatly weakened), and it's part of the collective key with the other rings to Lucifer's cage.
War's horseman ring manifests as a small gold wedding ring (probably mimicking the wedding ring of the person whose form War was assuming), and serves as War's means of channeling his powers when he manifests in physical human form. When activated by being twisted on its wearer's finger, War's ring causes people to suffer mutual hallucinations, which cause them to believe each-other to be enemies such as demons and turn on each-other, and the wearer can direct and control the illusions with the ring. However, the ring's effects will immediately ebb away if it is removed. (Good God, Y'All!)
War's corporeal manifestation is highly dependent upon the ring, apparently being reduced to a catatonic husk without it. (The Devil You Know) War's ring can also be combined with the other three horsemen's rings to form the key to Lucifer's cage. (Two Minutes to Midnight)
During the Apocalypse, when War manifested and targeted River Pass, Colorado, he used his ring to cause the people to mutually believe half the town were under demonic possession, driving them to turn on, attack, war against and kill each-other, until Sam and Dean defeated War by cutting his ring finger off. (Good God, Y'All!) Dean afterwards claimed and kept possession of War's ring. (Good God, Y'All!, My Bloody Valentine)
Several months after War's ring was acquired by the Winchesters, the Four Horsemen's rings were combined to form the key to Lucifer's cage, (Two Minutes to Midnight) and Sam successfully used the combined rings to send himself and Lucifer (along with Michael) into the cage. (Swan Song) It is unknown what happened to War's ring after this, although it is known that Death's ring was buried in the grounds of the Singer Auto Salvage Yard. (Appointment in Samarra)
- War's ring is the only horseman ring that doesn't have a stone with the allotted horseman's horse colour embedded into it.
